Leaky Gut Syndrome-not a very common name but a very common complication. Many people suffer from this condition but seek treatment of completely different ailments some of which are associated with leaky gut. It is essential to tackle the root cause of a disease rather than the symptom only for it to resurface again.

A very common symptom is allergies especially related to certain types of foods. A great number of victims seek medical treatment for allergies and are prescribed an array of medications that are not effective. This leads to the body building immunity against the drugs and even toxification of the body with chemicals and drugs. This shows that it is important to conduct tests to assess the ailment one is suffering in is not or is leaky gut.

Various laboratory tests are advised. Firstly, a testing of urine sample for presence of non-metabolized sugars such as manitol and lactulose is performed. Manitol and lactulose are absorbed at very low quantities. A solution of these sugars is drunk and urine samples collected. These samples can then be taken to a laboratory and tested for mannitol and lactulose.

If a tested sample yields a low quantity of these non-metabolised sugars, it shows malabsorption. This could be a case of leaky gut since it shows that the sugars were absorbed due to increased permeability in the intestines. A high result shows signs of Tight Junctions hence no leaky gut syndrome.

Secondly, the skin prick test for allergies. This shows IgE levels, the immediate reactions. The blood serum is taken and tested for response since most food allergies are delayed reactions. A delayed reaction shows the occurrence of an allergy which may be as a result of leaky gut.

Thirdly, the Chymotrypsin level test-a digestive enzyme produced by the pancreas. Chymotrypsin deficiency indicates relative spleen Qi deficiency. The Candida and Chymotrypsin levels are tested since they are caused by the use of antibiotics which result in leaky gut. Allergy tests may follow to further test the accuracy of findings from this test.

There are so many other tests for LGS including;

1- ACHY factor tests 2- Candida level infestation 3- SiGA tests

All these tests are inexpensive and have proved to be successful. If it's too late and prevention is not an option then you can still get relief by using a good Leaky Gut Syndrome Treatment protocol which heal your gut and eliminate your symptoms naturally. The basis for any treatment program should be a leaky gut diet that will help eliminate the inflammation and pathogens that are holding you back from healing.
